So it has been reported that as many as 20 people have been killed and more than 300 people have been injured in the aftermath of an earthquake which had amagnitude of about 5.8 earthquake which has left the people of Pakistan shocked, especially those Pakistani who reside in the area of Kashmir,while strong shocks were also felt in some areas of the Punjab province.Moreover,yesterday’s earthquake has covered and impacted about 22 kilometres north of city, Jhelum alongside the boundary which separates the agricultural heartland of the Punjab province and Azad Kashmir, as reported by a US geological agency. The Police Chief further added that the damage was limited to the area around the city of Mirpur, which is an area located in the Azad-Kashmir region in Pakistan and is located about 85km southeast of the Pakistani capital, Islamabad. He added that. “Our main road that goes along the canal was badly damaged and a bridge was destroyed. People are being brought in on motorcycles from there,”. It has been found that the local disaster management officials were still waiting for confirmation of the area where the earthquake hit, however, they instead got reports of damage to infrastructure.

“We have reports of cracks in the roads there,” said disaster management official Ammar Raza Shaikh. Tahir Mahmood, a senior police official in Rawalakot, about 80km (50 miles) from Mirpur, said “there is a lot of damage to infrastructure [in Mirpur]”. (As reported by Al-Jazeera) “Roads seem to have developed cracks and sunk down. Lots of vehicles were thrown around.”
