So the case of Musicians does not seem to be coming to an end any time soon with both parties standing firm on their claims. Moreover it is now been found that the, Musician Meesha Shafi has now filed a Rs2 billion damages suit in the Lahore sessions court against another famous personality of the music industry in Pakistan, Ali Zafar for making false allegations against her on media. Reports came out about this on Wednesday and it seems that the case has once again gained momentum.
Moreover, this new law suit has claimed Rs 1bn for the loss of goodwill and reputation caused, and Rs1bn for “mental torture and agony”. No one knows who’s right in this case just yet with both parties not backing out, but if the court does find Ali not guilty then Meesha will have a lot more than just defamation and mental torture on her plate.
Moving on,other than the damages requested, Meesha has also asked the court to pass a decree to declare Zafar’s statements regarding her as “false, malicious and defamatory” and “made to injure the reputation of the plaintiff”. It should at this point be noted that Ali Zafar made those remarks after, Meesha Shafi declared Ali Zafar as Sexual Predator who was involved in sexually harassing Meesha Shafi.

Moreover, the suit stated that “It is prayed that the defendant (Zafar) be permanently restrained from making any further defamatory statement against the plaintiff (Shafi),” , also it was added that the defamatory statements said by Ali Zafar on multiple occasions have caused a loss to Shafi’s goodwill and has mentally effected Meesha Shafi in the process. The law suit further added that, “ it has caused mental agony and anguish to the plaintiff and for which [the] defendant is now liable to pay damages,”
It should be remembered that Meesha Shafi’s team had also sent a legal notice to Zafar for defamation back in May this year and earlier Ali Zafar had submitted a Rs 1bn damages suit against Shafi for accusing him of sexual harassment. The case is currently underway in a sessions courts in Lahore. Zafar took legal action after Shafi accused him of harassing her “on more than two occasions”. How the case ends will be known soon enough, but we assure you that one of the two will see themselves have a career defamation from which it will be very hard to come back from.
