She is not unmarried! It has been declared this week in a family court in Lahore. As the nikkah nama she claimed in 2009 to be false in a court has been declared by the court to be true and the court has declared her to be wife of Ateeq-ur-Rehman.
The Family Judge Babar Nadeem while declaring Meera and Ateeq-ur-Rehman as husband wife, rejected Meera’s petition that her nikkah to Attiqur Rehman was forged and after 9 years, the Judge has announced the judgment for the marriage suit.
The judge reading out an 18-page written verdict on Meera’s petition against ‘jactitation of marriage’, ruled that “The nikkah name is not false,” and that a Nikkah khawan (Priest) has confirmed her nikkah to Rehman.

Though Meera had told the court 9 years ago that she had not solemnised the marriage, she has wife of Ateeq-ur-Rehman as her lawyer could not do well in her favour.
So the forged nikkah nama (according to Meera) which was not recorded in the Union council is now enough for Ateeq-ur-Rehman to ask for Meera’s arrest warrant (accosted he did in 2015 though nothing was done that time) because his wife who tied the knot with Ateeq-ur-Rehman on 2nd of September in 2007 does not admit her wedlock.
