MediaTek’s Helio P22 chipset to bring the 12nm manufacturing process to mid-range smartphones. Helio P promising to bring high-end features to mid-tier devices is a series by Media Tek and this family of Helio P series is going to be expanded by a new Helio P22 chipset.
After the release of P60 that has already been featured in the mid-range segment including Vivo and Oppo devices launched in India and China, MediaTek claims that Helio P22 is the first chipset to bring the 12nm manufacturing process to the mid-tier mobile segment.
Helio P22 offers the benefits of AI-accelerated experiences and photography as well as high-speed connectivity to more affordably priced devices.
The MediaTek Helio P22 is built with TSMC 12nm FinFET technology, and is claimed to combine the power efficient manufacturing processing brought to Android smartphones with CorePilot technology of MediaTek , allowing for sustainable high performance & power savings.
MediaTek Helio P22 does also support photography and connectivity on dual 4G SIM cards. The octa-core Arm Cortex A53 processors of the chipset operate up to 2.0GHz alongside offering sustainable high CPU performance while requiring low power inputs.

With this new chipset company promises that its users will benefit from Edge AI enhancements powered by MediaTek NeuroPilot. Helio P22 supports common AI frameworks (TensorFlow, TF Lite, Caffe and Caffe2) & an auto-select function for the available AI resource for developer efficiency and claims to deliver the benefits of AI at an affordable price.
AI accelerated camera experiences including Face ID, smart photo album, single-camera and a dual-camera depth of field features are also supported with Helio P22.
MediaTek Helio P22 brings hardware-driven dual-camera support for 13+8MP setups at 30 FPS. The chipset equipped with low-power hardware depth engine for real-time Bokeh preview can minimise grain, noise, aliasing, chromatic aberration and more. The chipset also has a 20:9 HD+ (1600 x 720) display support for full-screen smartphones.
The chipset also supports Bluetooth 5.0, and a 4-Satellite system GNSS to allow more efficient and more accurate connectivity locally and globally as well.
The Helio P22 in volume production now is expected to be available in consumer devices by the end of the second quarter of the current year.
