First time top three emerges from Tech field
It is important to mention here, this is the first time that the 3 wealthiest persons on the list have come from the technology sector.
Here you can see the top three richest people in the world, and interestingly they all have tech background.
- Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos with $142 billion assets
- Microsoft founder Bill Gates with 94.2 billion assets
- Facebook’s co-founder, Mark Zuckerberg with $71 billion assets
Once upon a time, Buffett was ranked as the world’s wealthiest person, however, now he has slipped down to number four, mainly in part to his charitable giving. As, since 2006, Buffett has given away about $290 million Berkshire Hathaway B-shares and many of them were for the Gates Foundation. If we calculated that amount for today’s worth then those shares are worth approximately $54 billion, which could’ve easily made him the second richest person on the earth.
On the other hand, Zuckerberg have also made charitable donations, but they’re small enough that they have not had any major effect on his wealth. Zuckerberg also has promised to give away 99 % of his wealth within his lifetime.
