A shocking event has taken place in Karachi recently as a man identified as Qasim has proceeded on to murder a man and his son because they stole his Wi-Fi password.
The suspect belongs to Quaidabad area of Karachi and he shot a man named Farooq, along with Farooq’s younger child, Haris – as they allegedly stole the password to his Wi-Fi. It has also been reported that a fight had taken place between the two parties involved a month and a half ago – as the whole incident has been reported by ARY News.
The reports suggest that Qasim had actually allegedly threatened both Farooq and his younger son previously as they stole his Wi-Fi password and proceeded to use the internet service that he was paying for. The relatives of the victims have also since come forward and have stated that the suspect had also previously threatened Farooq’s other son, Adnan. The relatives further commented that the situation was so serious that a case too was lodged against the suspect.

After the report against Qasim was lodged, it is reported that he had gone into hiding. While Haris was a graduate student at Karachi University, his father was employed at a Steel Mill.
While this incident may come as a shock to many of us, considering the psychological issues that many report being a direct consequence of excessive usage of the internet – it isn’t exactly surprising. The ever increasing obsession that people have with the internet and everything related it is now more apparent than ever, and is only translating into further complications and cases such as these.
