The size of the display notch on different smartphones have a seen a drastic reduction this year. There happen to be many phones available that have a water drop-style notch. We have also seen notch-less design phones that feature with a pop-up selfie camera. Some manufacturers though have turned to the punch-hole display design. One smartphone brand that has been quite unsuccessful in keeping up with such trends though happens to be LG. The LG Q60 mid-ranger which happened to have been unveiled back in February did sport a waterdrop notch, however, most of the high end smartphones coming from the company including the likes of the LG G8 ThinQ, the LG G8s ThinQ as well as the LG V50 ThinQ go on to sport notches of a wider nature. However, a recent patent filing the Turkish Patent Institute has gone on to reveal that LG has been granted permission for a new smartphone design that features with punch-hole display along with triple rear cameras. The images that appear in the patent show a smartphone that features with a punch-hole being placed at the top-left corner of the display of the device. It features with a thick-sized chin while the top bezel possesses an earpiece along with some other sensors.

On the left spine of the phone we can see the volume up and down buttons, while a button for summoning the AI assistant is placed below it. We also see a button on the right edge of a device, which is probably for turning on the device. There also seems to be a 3.5mm audio jack present on the bottom of the device. This audio jack will be accompanied by a USB port on the bottom.
The rear design is quite similar to how the rear of the LG V40 ThinQ looks like. It features with a triple camera setup which is arranged in a horizontal manner. The setup also has an LED flash along with it. There also happens to be a fingerprint scanner which is placed right below the camera module.
Unfortunately enough though, the fact of the matter is that the patent application is not available in the regulator’s database. And therefore exists the possibility that it could in fact be fake or the listing could be hidden to the public. It would be good however to know whether or not LG is working on a new display design. If the patent is of a phone which exists, then more details will surface soon enough.
