As the tensions between both the United States and China continue to be on a high, popular mobile carries EE and Vodafone have both dropped devices from Huawei from their launch plan of 5G networks. In accordance to the statements by both the carriers, the pre-orders for the Huawei Mate 20X (5G) are on hold, until there is a final verdict with the US’s decision.
The Huawei Mate 20X was to become one of the world’s first 5G competent smartphones as part of their 5G networks. The BT group, that owns EE, has recently claimed that company focuses on its customers feeling safe while using their products, and hence will not list the Mate 20X until there is an assurance that the Chinese company has not acted against the interests of any of its users.

Marc Allera, who is the CEO of BT Groups’ consumer brands recently said : “Until we get the information and confidence that gives us the long term surety that our customers, when they buy those devices, are going to be supported for the lifetime they’ve got the device with us, we’ve put those devices on pause.”
Huawei happens to be doing very well in the European market in particular, as the company went on to export around 29 million smartphones in the first quarter of 2019 alone. However, such performance is likely to be affected sooner rather than later as Google has pulled access to the Google Play Store, Google’s security and major apps updates including the likes of Facebook, Instagram, as well as Google maps.
While the negotiations are in progress, the European giants seem to be awaiting the right call in order to either resume the pre-orders or they may completely call of their deals with the Chinese manufacturer.
Other giant mobile carriers in the European market, including Spain’s Telefonica and Germany’s Deutsche Telekom are too in the process of whether to continue selling devices that Huawei manufactures. And as far as other mobile carries go – Japanese mobile carrier SoftBank and Chunghwa Telecom in Taiwan have dropped Huawei devices, with these including the likes of newly released P30 Lite and the P20 Lite.
