All you need to know about Nokia 5.1, a midrange choice

All you need to know about Nokia 5.1, a midrange choice. Recently, HMD has unveiled 3 Nokia smartphones (5.1, Nokia 3.1, and Nokia 2.1) pilled with stock Android.  The two of them, Nokia 2.1, and 3.1 are to target the budget-friendly market; however, Nokia 5.1 is more like a new mid-range smartphone that packs an 18:9 display, upgraded chipsets, pure Android and a good starting price of $220 to compete the mid-rangers.

So, before talking much, lets’ get dive into spec of Nokia 5.

Design and display

Nokia 5.1 comes with a slightly larger display than its last year’s version Nokia 5i.e. it features 5.5-inch HD+ display with 18:9 aspect ratio. Fingerprint scanner is placed on the rear. The body of Nokia 5.1’s is built with a single block of anodized aluminum.

The phone also features MediaTek Helio P18 chipset. According to HMD, Helio P18 is 40% faster than Snapdragon 430 used in the previous phone.

Camera

The phone features an upgraded 16-megapixel camera on the rear and wide-angle front camera of 8-megapixel. The rear camera packs all usual features like phase-detection, dual LED flash, autofocus, and 1080p video recording.

Battery

The phone supports a 2970mAh battery. However, there would be no fast charging.

Software

In my opinion, the biggest hit of Nokia 5.1’s would be its support with non-customized pure Android8.1 Oreo.

Color options

You can get it in three colors, i.e. Black, Blue, and Copper.

Price and availability

The phone comes with two variants with respect to memory and storage.

  • 2GB RAM / 16GB storage priced at $218 which is approximately PKR 25,000
  • 3GB of RAM / 32GB storage version is priced at $252 which is around PKR 27,000

Well, to be honest, at this price tag there are other better options in the market.

The phone is available for sale in some emerging markets like India and it’s also expected to debut in coming weeks in Pakistan.
