The Customs Appellate Tribunal has rejected the appeal of cellular company “Warid” which now turned out to Jazz after the famous merger of these two companies. By rejecting the appeal of the local cellular company the tribunal ordered to pay more than twenty million (2 Crores) valued taxes plus one million rupees penalty upon customs clearance of “import ARS 5000 multimedia core platform”. This tax fraud is one of the worst cases in the history of Jazz.
Sources told us that, beforehand, in the report to this case customs adjudications Collectorate stated, upon the request of Directorate post clearance audit in favor of required revenue 2 crores 8 lacs forty-eight thousand four hundred and fifty-six rupees under pay charge was absolutely right. The tribunal ordered to the cellular company to pay the penalty of one million with the amount but in return regulators of the company positioned an appeal against the order of customs adjudications Collectorate to review the decision.
However, in the light of all facts and evidence customs adjudications Collectorate issued the order to pay the amount with fine to cellular company. It is important to mention that Directorate of post clearance audit (custom) Karachi has caught and exposed the fraud and miss declaration of mentioned cellular company.
This is not the first time Jazz has been seen in fraud cases and worst services scenario. According to the source, the cellular company got the consignment clearance of customs taxes 1% instead of 20% by portraying wrong ARS 5000 multimedia platform in customs tariff (PCT) and commit fraud by putting in loss of amount more than 20 million to national saving revenue.
The Directorate post clearance audit went through all detail of data given by cellular company upon import consignment and found the truth that cellular company jazz goods got the clearance of customs tax payment through declaration number KPAF-HC-1471 and showed the wrong PCT of ARS 5000 multimedia platform to get the low tax as 1% instead of 20%.
It is disappointing news how cellular company deceived the nation and commit fraud of 20 million to pay low tax.
