A significant amount of time was spent by Apple in its iPhone keynote event, in which the company talked about the superior camera abilities which the iPhone XS and the iPhone XS Max possess. As a matter of fact, most of the time, it was actually the camera which was promoted more than anything, more than any other aspects of the device.
However good the camera might be though, many experts and users agree with the statement that the camera on the new iPhones isn’t as good as the one present on the Huawei P20 Pro, a smartphone, which in the opinion of many, has the best camera on any smartphone ever, till now. In fact, this ranking of cameras alsocomes courtesy of DxOMark, which ranks the cameras on the mobile phones using a particular scoring system.
The iPhone XS Max’s camera netted a score of 105, which is actually four points lesser than the score captured by the Huawei P20 Pro, as the phone managed to score an impressive 109 in the recent ratings.

So in all fairness, while it is true that the iPhones possess extremely impressive cameras, it is also true that the newest DxOMark score, combined with the early reviews which went on to state that the new iPhone cameras don’t match up to the Pixel 2 – a phone which is a year old, goes on to show that while the iPhones have a good camera, they aren’t quite up to the mark when it comes to the real big dogs of the smartphone community.
And if you think that the DxOMark review isn’t of huge credibility, or doesn’t actually justify the cameras that the iPhones possess, just consider the fact that the reviews are based upon an exhaustive series of tests, which push nearly every feature of the camera to the limit. So fair to say that Apple lost out in the competition in all fairness, and justice.
