The InfoTech Invitational Golf Tournament 2017 was contested over 18 holes on stroke play format at the Royal Palm Golf Course on Thursday, 23rd of March 2017. With over 120 golfers participating and in the run for golfing and corporate honours, the tee-off was scheduled for 10.30 am followed by an exclusive lunch for the participating golfers.
The CEO of InfoTech, Mr Naseer Akhtar commented on the occasion, “InfoTech takes golf very seriously and is proud to organise such a platform which not only aroused the spirit of sportsmanship but also boosted the morale of the golfers. By providing them with an opportunity to showcase their talent and ability to face challenges we try to build in them the competitive spirit to face the never-ending challenges life has to offer. We are putting our best way forward to take this invitational tournament to national level very soon.”
In the (0-12) handicap category, winner net was Mr Farid Malik and winner gross was Mr Fakhar Imam. The runner-ups in this category were Mr Asim Tiwanafor net and Mr Sardar Murad for gross.
In the (13-18) handicap category, winner net was Mr Zafar Iqbal and winner gross was Mr Shahid Karim. The runner-ups in this category were Mr Khurram Mazhar for the net and Mr Lt. Gen. Mohammad Hilal for gross. The senior category net winner was Mr Abid Farooq.
Longest drive at hole no. 7 was hit by Mr Haroon Arshad, and at hole no. 14 by Mr Asim Tiwana. Mr Faisal Sayid won nearest to pin prize at hole no. 4, and Mr Zafar Iqbal won it at hole no. 13. Mr Fakhar Imam was the maximum birdies winner. At the conclusion of the ceremony, INFOTECH CEO Mr Naseer Akhter awarded trophies and prizes to the winners.
Mr. Farid Malik winner in the (0-12) handicap net category also commented, “In a country like ours where golf is yet catching pace with other sports; it feels so great to have such initiatives being taken. I feel happy and honoured to showcase the talent I am best in. Golf is indeed an amazing sport which nurtures your confidence and energy at the same time. I am looking forward to such exciting events and initiatives in near future.”
