Huawei updates its Watch to use eSIM technology. Last year’s Huawei Watch get introduced its revised version dubbed Huawei Watch 2 last week. The revised version brings a notable change with it and comes with its ability to adopt eSIM. eSIM is a still budding technology that takes up lesser space than regular SIM cards.
According to GSMArena, eSIMs can be purchased though not anywhere else in the world but in China through e-commerce platform called Vmall.
Huawei Watch 2 identical to last year’s watch dies not only replace nanoSIM with eSIM but also replaces the plastic SIM card with a smaller, electronic SIM and can share the same phone number as your mobile device, making it more convenient for you.
No doubt eSIM is much smaller than nanoSIM and is better suited for smartwatches.

However the company gives you a chance to choose from nanoSIM-supported Huawei Watch 2 or a Bluetooth-only model. Besides the new SIM tech, the 2018 version of the Huawei Watch 2 is set to have the same exact design as last year’s Watch 2: a 1.2-inch 390 x 390 AMOLED display that got protected by Gorilla Glass and was powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 2100 processor. It comes with features like 768 MB of RAM and 4GB of ROM. It has also got a waterproof rating of IP68, means that the watch can withstand submersion for up to 98 feet.
With no spec upgrades to Huawei Watch 2, we expect that the company is saving spec upgrades for a Watch 3. No matter when it comes.
The Huawei Watch 2 with eSIM costs $310 (1,988 CNY), the same price as last year’s. This watch would come to you in black or orange whatever colour you decide according to your mood.
However, the Bluetooth version of this watch goes for a cheaper $240 (1,540 CNY) and is now available in gray or black.
