The problems that have been surrounding Chinese manufacturer Huawei have indeed been well-covered in recent times. Due to the fact that the US has now placed a new sanction on the company as well as its suppliers, the company will be making some rather difficult decisions. In the latest turn of events, it has been found out that Honor : which happens to be one of Huawei’s subsidiaries, is moving towards the MediaTek chipsets so as to keep its business in the light of progress.
Due to the fact that Huawei owns Honor, it does make all the sense in the world that Honor uses Huawei’s Kirin chips within its devices. However, due to the sanctions that are now in place, Honor has no choice but to use an alternative. That alternative now comes in the form of MediaTek.
In a recent event, the president of Honor’s business unit spoke about some of the solutions that might present themselves in light of the recent events. And so, it does seem that honor will be looking towards the MediaTek chipsets for now.

With this move in mind, it then becomes quite possible that Honor X10 might be the last device to feature with a Kirin chipset inside – this being the case at least for the time being.
Also, the move would make sense because this wouldn’t even be the first time Huawei, Honor and MediaTek would be working together, since MediaTek does supply components for Huawei’s various IoT as well as its networking products. However, the move would represent a first timeras far as smartphone chipsets go though.
Only time will tell when Huawei can resume its normal business proceedings or adopt solid alternatives. For now, it is no surprise that the latest sanction places the company in deep waters as the US government continues to hold the image that Huawei is a national security threat.
