Huawei has been in quite a bit of headlines lately and it is surprising to see how different those headlines are. On the one hand, Huawei is losing support of additional American companies not willing to work with Huawei forcing Huawei to become a completely in-house company but that isn’t budging the tech giant even a little bit. From comforting its users of no changes to introducing new phones, Huawei seems to have figured it all out.
Huawei’s sub-brand. Honor has just introduced the Honor 20 PRO in London amidst all the tension, and by the looks of it, there seems to be nothing wrong. In fact the phone reminds us of how mature Honor has become in terms of phone upgrades and focusing on the little details. Its Honor View 20 was the first phone to not support a notch and instead came with a cutout that allowed for more screen space compared to notches, although only barely. The PRO version continues the trend. The specs are not to be messed around with. The phone comes with 6.26-inch display which is unfortunately LCD and only 1080p, a lack of OLED screen is quite concerning these days but the display fares well among its competitors. In terms of performance, the phone has the in-house Kirin 980 processor, 8GB of RAM and 256 GB RAM, although microSD is not present. The Kirin might not stand tall enough to compete with the Snapdragon 855 but the processor is far ahead of the lower end options by Snapdragon like the 600 or the 700, the Huawei processor blows the competition out of the water. With the 8GB RAM, the user would probably be getting excess power. The battery is a tough 4000MAH which supports wireless charging which completes the package.

Now here’s where the real upgrade is: the camera. It is a quad camera set up with the 48MP main sensor from SONY which seems to be in all of the phones lately. An 8MP telephoto that supports 3x LOSSLESS zoom, 2MP macro for the closeup shots, and a 16MP superwide camera which can capture 117 degrees FoV. All this adds up to a very convincing camera performance just like the other Honor phones. The phone deserves a lot of praise as it also supports a 32MP front facing camera which also does well. The phone is priced at 599 EUROS putting it in direct competition with the OnePlus 7 PRO which itself is trying new territory with the higher price point, so lets see how 2019 builds up and where do we place these phones at our top phone list.
