HUAWEI HAPPY TO SHARE ITS 5G WITH APPLE

The 5G war is on and Huawei seems to be leading the race with competitors falling behind. Huawei has been transforming itself year after year and the rate of progression that the company has shown, it would be frightening for Samsung and Apple. 5G is evidence of how far the company has come leaning behind its competitors. Justifiably, it has protected its technology and is not keen on selling it to other Chinese Manufacturers, but one surprising name comes up here: Apple! Why would Huawei be so generous as to be willing to cooperate with Apple to integrate the 5G chips in iPhones as well.

This is bound to raise eyebrows, because aside from being one of the largest chipmakers in the world, Intel has been the sole supplier of modem chips for iPhones for a fairly long time. Apple’s legal tussle with Qualcomm has negated any possibility of collaboration, while Samsung’s 5G technology is hardly compatible with US carriers. In this moment of uncertainty, Huawei’s entry might be fortunate for Apple, though it is, of course, no less unexpected.

Huawei’s Balong 5000 5G modem has created a lot of stir in the tech community with its highly impressive numbers of 6.5 Gbps worth of bandwidth. Currently, the statement remains that the chip is for Huawei’s internal use only. However, that might change. This might just play out well for Huawei over the long term, as it has made no secret of its plans to become the biggest smartphone manufacturer in the world by 2020. A collaboration with the world’s most valuable company would go a long way in achieving that goal. Similarly, Apple also stands to benefit from a reliable source of 5G modems, and its business in China is likely to improve as well.

Nothing has been made official yet, and these all seem to be reports, highly speculative ones at that, but a collaboration would make a lot of noise in the industry if it were to happen as it seems to be a win-win situation for both companies, for now.
