HTC U12+ squeezable 8.7 mm thick phone features 2 dual cameras. HTC’s new top-of-the-range smartphone with dual cameras both on the front and back, alongside a special edge that you can squeeze to activate certain functions has been introduced recently.
The 6″, 18:9 display sports a Quad HD Plus resolution (2880 x 1440 pixels) with a water and dust resistant (IP68) glass-back casing.
The phone dubbed U12+ comes with a rear setup and features now a 12 MP wide-angle camera (f/1.75 aperture) with optical and electronic image stabilisation that is paired with a second 16-megapixel telephoto lens (f/2.6), to give the camera a 2x optical zoom.
The front camera setup includes two 8MP cameras (f/2.0) allowing you to take images with bokeh and high contrast (HDR) effects as well.
The device supports the uncompressed RAW format, to allow you perfect your shots later in an editor like Photoshop.
Alongside an exposure time of up to 32 seconds in its manual mode, allowing users for nighttime shots of starry skies, U12+ can record image-stabilised 4K videos at 60 frames per second.
With 6 gigabytes (GB) of memory at its disposal, the Snapdragon 845 Qualcomm processor supports Gigabit LTE.
Though the phone also comes in two other colours: ceramic black and and flame red, its translucent blue version lets you see some of the components through the back of the phone.
The device brings with itself further refind Edge Sense technology to recognise in which hand it is being held. If you squeez the bottom part of the device, you could initiate previously defined actions, like with the latest Pixel smartphone by Google. This is supposed to make one-handed operation more easier. Squeezing the device briefly will open the camera app by default.
Four microphones and Sonic Zoom feature will help your phone zero in on more distant voices or sounds.
The smartphone supporting high-quality codes such as aptX HD or LDAC for music playback, also comes with a headset with active noise cancelling.
U12+ weighing some 188 grams and 8.7 millimetres of thickness includes 3500 mAh battery.
The U12+ featuring 64GB of expandable storage and Android 8.0 will be available in some regions from mid-June for US$799, while it also has a version with 128GB of storage.
