In smartphones industry, undoubtedly Huawei has made its worth by emerging as top Smartphone selling brand. In almost a time span of one decade, Huawei emerged with its efficiently amazing smartphones. Something unique that we must mention is Huawei’s exclusive design format, the camera focused and battery life insurance. It seems notorious that consumers have to wait for such long time of 1 year after its predecessor Honor 5X. Here we are going to reveal secrets of Huawei’s latest smartphone Huawei Honor 6X now available in Pakistan. NetMag always ensures fair reviews of smartphones in order to assist trustworthy readers to have full information before buying smartphones.
“Imagination is the only weapon”
The idea behind the epic name Honor 6X does matter as it explains all the amazing salient features of the phone. Huawei Honor is absolutely the name of trust, esteem, and honor. Honor 6X is yet another metal-clad smartphone vying for attention in a very crowded environment. Dual rear cameras, CPU, more efficient fingerprint sensors and Huawei’s custom silicon are the amazing highlights under the hood. Well, it’s a big game as this device has to compete with Heavyweight Champions like Moto G4 Plus and the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4. After opening the box and removing the seal we were really amazed by its first look. The package contained:
- Huawei Honor 6x
- User Guide
- IMEI numbers and warranty card
- Wall Charger
- Micro-USB cable
- Stereo Headphone
Design, Display, and Features:
This phone is specifically designed so that you can explore Honor 6X as fairly thin borders on either side, makes at least basic one-handed use possible. The 5.5-inch display makes this phone look bigger. Its dimensions are 150.9 x 76.2 x 8.2 mm. It’s absolutely the right size to view what’s on screen for ultimate fun. Screen to body ratio is 71.8 %, which is perfect in 100%. The endurance of full-HD resolution is absolute as the display for reading, icons and videos are good. Scratch resisting glass is durable.
“Appear weak when you are strong”
As we have brought this phone in Gold color so it really gives a magnificent look especially from the front side. The uniqueness about its front look is its neatness and simplicity. It’s a metallic phone but certainly not fully wrapped in metal. It has 2.5D Curved Glass Metal Body. The metal chassis has a satin-like finish which feels really good when you hold it. Fine curves around the edges don’t help much with grip either, although aesthetically, this phone looks very good. Not offering a USB type C-port, is certainly a drawback as many phones under this budget has managed to do so. It is available in the market with various stylish colors. On button and Volume keys are at the right side. Headset jack on the upper edge, charging port and speakers at the downside and awesome looking Dual Rear Cameras with LED flash makes its look even classic.
Efficiently pro-active made finger Print Sensors which will give immediate response and will unlock the device in just 0.3 sec with many other functions are also a plus point of Honor 6X. It has non-removable 3340 mAh battery. It’s good as this phone supports double SIM (nano) and SD card slot in a portable tray at the left edge of the device. It naturally asserts itself as a mid-range offering – one that luckily doesn’t feel cheap in the hand.
The resolution of the display Resolution is 1080 x 1920 pixels while it holds ~403 PPI pixel density. It scores Multi-touch up to 10, while Emotion UI 4.1 is really a something worth talking about. It looks more like an updated and refreshed version of Honor 5X. This combination has made this device fast in usage and handling apps. You are obviously not going to be having any problems of hanging or lacking even while playing games.
Performance and Specifications:
It’s unusual to give the conclusion of CPU performances at the very beginning but still, I have to say that this device is certainly a race horse. It’s been awhile since Huawei has been working on its upgraded chipsets in-house naming it as Kirin. Well, Honor 6 has Kirin 655 and Mali-T830 GPU. To be honest, here we must mention that Kirin 655 is almost 25% slower than Qualcomm’s equivalent Snapdragon 625. Before giving our point of view on its CPU performance, it seems important to go through with its specs.
It has Operating System of Android OS, version 6.0 (Marshmallow), which is planned upgraded to v7.0 (Nougat) soon. The chipset is Kirin 655 HiSilicon. CPU is Octa-core (4×2.1 GHz Cortex-A53 & 4×1.7 GHz Cortex-A53). Internal memory storage is 32 GB while RAM is 3 GB. It can support a micro SD card up to 256 GB. This device supports GSM, LTE, and HSPA technologies. The Honor 6X Smart Assistance sub-menu in the Settings app is a helpful feature to deal with. Fully functional motion and voice-based gestures is a new thing. Now you can sync your contacts, calendar and other settings to HiCloud (Huawei’s cloud backup service).
The Honor 6X performance is above average as we checked with multitasking. This device might not post the highest benchmark numbers in its class but it’s certainly no slouch when it comes to real-world performance. It scored 56583 on AnTuTu Benchmark v6.2.7. EMUI runs smoothly without any major hiccups, and the phone handles multitasking quite well. Although the presence of heavy skin and working on heavy apps and playing games, around 2.5GB of RAM is always seen spared, this is absolutely great.
HiGame is found factory installed in this set. After a heavy duty usage of this device of almost 15 days, we certainly have to say that this phone never slowed down and worked properly in each and every aspect. We installed Nova 3 game in this phone which is a high memory game almost 1.5 GB. It first worked properly, but later we faced problems of lacking. God knows whether it was a bug in the game or the device malfunctioned.
All the fuss about Camera:
One of the highlights of the Huawei Honor 6X is its dual rear cameras. The primary camera 12-megapixel sensor is accomplished with a 2-megapixel sensor camera just beneath it, which is used only for depth perception, rather than improving the quality of the picture. This feature is very similar to the iPhone 7 Plus. The primary camera used in this device is a Sony IMX386 sensor and supports PDAF.
The camera app on the Honor 6X offers a wide aperture mode which lets you simulate an aperture range of f/0.95 to f/16. There are many good bouquet effects here, provided to you to frame your subjects well. We have taken different shots in different modes and effects like HDR, Good Food, Pro Photo and Beauty mode which is shared below. When we talk about image quality, the camera is pretty capable as long as lighting around the object is fine. In daylight, pictures have good details and colors are represented pretty accurately as compared to night. It also supports video recording up to 1080p where no compromise in quality has been observed.
The front camera is very cool as the trend of selfies is never stopping. Despite no LED flash it captures very fine pictures in daylight but loses out in low light. In a transparent review, it is important to mention that color noise isn’t much of an issue, but even close objects suffer from a grainy look.
Battery Life:
As earlier mentioned this device has a 3340mAh non-removable battery with support for fast charging. We used a 10W power adapter, which was provided in the box, we managed to get almost 60 percent charging in an hour. We checked its battery life with multitasking, 3G, 4G data usage, wifi, running multiple apps at a time, video streaming, gaming and whatsoever its battery never goes down quickly. During normal usage, we were able to easily go past a day on a single charge, while the heavy duty usage certainly affected battery timing by 20%.
Verdict:
Undoubtedly Honor 6X has proven itself to be another dependable option to consider, just like its predecessor, despite strong competitors likes Xiaomi Redmi Note 4. This mid-range phone we have to admit has enormously good features compensating with its price. However, it doesn’t really offer any standout feature that would make you want to rush out and buy it. It is available in Pakistan in almost Rs. 28,499 for the version with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage, which is just compatible, considering the specifications on offer.
We definitely recommend you to buy this phone by concluding plus point specs like 2.5D curved glass body, 3GB RAM with 32GB ROM, Dual-lens Rear Camera of 12MP + 2MP, and efficiently made Fingerprint Sensor 3.0. Well, the hope still left in the heart that Honor had paid attention to finer details like Wi-Fi 802.11ac support, a USB Type-C connector, true dual-SIM functionality like the 5X, and perhaps a simpler look and feel to EMUI.
