Remember the time when everyone has gathered around the table, its time for Maghrib, all the most oily and tasty of foods are on display at the table, a few minutes left for Iftar and…. the light goes out. The level of frustration was great and with all the empty stomachs and thirsty throats, it made matters worse, but well that is what Ramazan teaches: patience, doesn’t it?
Enough with the nostalgia, and now to the concerning part. Everyone hopes that Iftar and Sehri should be the time of the day where there should be absolutely no load shedding because it really disrupts the behavior of people and trust me none of them is amused by it. Fortunately, this time the government has announced under The Minister for Power Omar Ayub that there will be no power outages across the country during Sehr and Iftar for the month of Ramadan. The minister made these remarks on Friday while briefing the Senate Standing Committee on Power. The minister told the Senate committee that they are replacing faulty transformers and the out of order devices are being sent to pre-registered workshops for repair. He told the Senate body that line losses in HESCO have marginally reduced in the last two months and vowed to launch a crackdown against the mafia that had been involved in irregularities.Omar Ayub said the solarisation of tube wells in Balochistan is on his priority list and that the ministry will take necessary steps in this regard.
