Government The visit of HRH (His Royal Highness) Crown Prince Mohammad Bin Salman has been a successful political move on behalf of PM Imran Khan as he was able to further strengthen the ties between the two countries. It marked a new era of promise and improved trade and economic relations with RSA. However, post-visit, there have been developments to further integrate both markets to allow for greater trade outcomes and better business dealings.
The federal Government plans to announce Friday as a weekly holiday instead of Sunday. The reason for this would be the differences in off-market days between Pakistan and other Arab countries like Saudi Arab and Qatar. Pakistan enjoys the weekend on Saturdays and Sundays while the Arab Countries have Friday as a day off. That creates a window of only four days, Monday to Thursday, to carry out business dealings between the respective countries, an increase in which would give an extra day leading to greater economic opportunities, especially for Pakistan. With all the respective markets having a synchronized schedule, it would allow for greater exchange of goods and create an overall positive impact on the economies.

However, this decision requires the acceptance of at least the majority of religious and political parties. And this is exactly what the federal government has done as it asked their input on the matter. This could be a difficult decision to approve of, even though some parts of Pakistan already use Friday as a holiday, with the likes of Faislabad and Jhang, among others, but any of the major cities accepting this decision seems far less likely.
