Just a month ago Google took on the decision to revoke Huawei’s license to use its Android mobile operating system after the US Department of commerce went on to list the Chinese manufacturer under its Entity list which happens to include all the companies that pose a potential threat to the national security of the US.
Though later the US Commerce Department decided to ease up on the ban and proceeded on to providing a 90-day window so as a settlement could be reached with other companies before the ban actually takes effect. Meanwhile, the company went on to confirm that existing users that own Huawei smartphones will indeed continue to receive updates.
However, one would have to imagine that things won’t become easy anytime soon for Huawei. It has already been officially confirmed that the revenueof the company will take a hit of up to $30 billion. Though the company is looking to better the situation, as it happens to be working on its very own mobile operating system – the HongMeng OS (Oak OS).

The more recent news surrounding Huawei is with regards to the founder and CEO of the manufacturer – Ren Zhengfei. He has recently claimed in an interview that Google will lose 700-800 million if Huawei abandons Android. He stated that both Huawei and Google will “always be on the same line of interest, and if we don’t load Google’s system, Google will lose 700-800 million users in the future.”
The CEO proceeded by saying that while Huawei does not actually want to take the decision of replacing Google’s system at all because such a move would slow down the growth of the company, but if it does get to that point, it has its own system to replace and will return to growth. HongMeng OS or Oak OS is all but set to release by the end of either September or October and the OS – whichever one we see – will initially focus on the mid-range devices, as per the reports.
