Google Teaming up with American Medical Association. In a bid to get start-ups to come up with the “best new ideas for fostering data sharing from health monitoring devices, Google is set to team up with the American Medical Association, a physician lobbying group.
This merger of Google and American Medical Association might be focused upon the ideas including some mobile app or wearable devices that can make it easier for the people with chronic disease to share data with their doctor, said AMA on Monday.
The statement also said that “The winning entries will demonstrate how the applicant uses patient-generated health data in meaningful ways to have maximum impact on improving physician workflow, improving clinical outcomes, and reducing cost in the health-care system,”.
The big tech companies are on the way to carve out a piece of the $3 trillion health-care market, and are showing an increased willingness to work with established industry players for promoting the innovation.

An innovation challenge with Merck was also undertaken by Amazon the last year. Through this innovation challenge, Amazon is aiming at the encouragement of Alexa developers to come up with so-called “skills” that could support people with diabetes at the hospital and in the home as well.
Though the giant Amazon did not shared much about its intentions associated to innovation challenge, CNBC reported in March about its broader goals for developing technology for the aging population.
The aging population is targeted d by Amazon, because they suffer disproportionately from chronic diseases like diabetes, as compared to their counterparts on the younger stages of age.
Alphabet also leaves no stone unturned and this giant has chosen to focus its challenge on the issue of medical data interoperability. Alphabet’s idea focuses on making it easier for patients and providers to easily share medical data such as lab results or imaging in a computer-readable format, though not a PDF.
Hospitals and their technology vendors involved in Alphabet’s mission have historically chosen to “lock-in” patients to their facilities rather than providing them with easy access to their data.
Apple proves to be the well wisher of the humanity and follows the other tech giants and is focused on solving this problem through its medical records product.
However, the most important point for the tech interested people is that through Google-AMA challenge, the three best ideas submitted will be able to get a combined $50,000 in credit for Google Cloud.
