There were some rumors that started to come up, in the early part of this year, which went on to state that Google was in the works for a midrange smartphone, and as per the rumors, the phone was codenamed Bonito. Now, even though the rumors have started to slow down, the device is still seemingly in the works, as there were references to it, particularly discovered in the ArCore app.
These references that I mentioned were uncovered by none other than Android Police, after they went through a process of digging through the ArCore APK file, which made it all the more likely that Google was indeed working on a budget minded phone, mainly for those who might not be able to afford the Pixel devices.
However, Bonito isn’t actually the only codename which was found in the APK file, as there was also a reference to Sargo found out by the outlet. What Google usually does is that the company assigns fish-themed codenamed to its smartphones, and as the case is with Sargo, indeed, it is a fish.

However, while there is a codename, there is no confirmation whatsoever that Sargo is another Google phone, but the track record that Google has, with all the naming tags that the company has followed upon, or does still follow, all the signs are there.
While the codename has been suggested, there isn’t much known about the device which goes by the name of Sargo. Other then this, talking a tad more about Bonito, there are suggestions that explain that the phone is a mid-range Pixel phone. The device will apparently be powered by a Snapdragon 710 chipset, as per some journalists, and other rumors.
A mid-range Pixel phone could be great for third world country markets, like India and Pakistan. Such a phone would go on to provide stiff competition to other affordable companies, such as Xiaomi and Realme, and hence, the consumers will not only be getting plenty of bang for their buck, but also an increase in the level of options.
