Google Photos has been a great option for all those who have the desire to back up their photos as well as their videos, as the offering from Google boats unlimited storage for all your memories. Unfortunately though, a bug in Google’s data export service has meant that it is quite possible that someone else may have received and saved your videos.
In accordance with what Twitter user Jon Oberheide has had to say – Google has sent out an email in order to notify him of an issue which is affecting the company’s Takeout data export service in between that of 21 and 25 of November. The email goes on to note that Oberheide requested his data during this period – which included his Google Photos content.
An excerpt of the alert read : “Unfortunately, during this time, some videos in Google Photos were incorrectly exported to unrelated users’ archives. One or mode videos in your Google Photos account was affected by this issue.”

Google further continued by saying that a dump of data downloaded with regards to this period might contain some videos that don’t belong to you. It provided caution for the users to delete their prior dump and conduct another export.
Of course, this flaw is quite a serious one – as no one wants strangers to get their hands on their videos and other media. It then also begs the question : how is a flaw like this possible in the first place? Fortunately though, Google has followed up with good news as the company has revealed that the issue has indeed been subject to being resolved.
It also provided some statistical data in order to ensure that not many were affected, as the search engine giant has revealed that less than 0.01 percent of Google Photos users were affected by the issue.
