In accordance with a new report, Google Chrome – like you’d probably had expected, is indeed leading the browser market for 2020. The world’s most popular browser search engine giant Google went on to record a new high for the fifth straight as it cemented a new high of 69.8 percent market share.
This particular feat of such a high market share was only achieved by Microsoft’s signature browser in the Internet Explorer all the way back in 2008 when the browser went on to hold around 70 percent market share. And so if Chrome does one day manage to break past the 70 percent mark – then it would be the third browser ever to do so.

It is important to note though that Microsoft isn’t really completely out of the picture as far as browser wars go – since the company’s Edge browser has been gaining quite a bit of popularity in recent times. By the browser’s current growth rate, it is expected to achieve a market share of 10.3 percent by this time next year. Also up the ladder seems to be Mozilla Firefox as it has managed a market share of 7.2 percent as of May of this year – however, unlike Microsoft Edge, the growth for Firefox in recent times hasn’t been too high – in fact, for the most part, the growth has actually been flat.
And so now, as far as the foreseeable future goes – it looks as if Google will continue to dominate the market. However, as Chrome went on to disrupt the dominance that Internet Explorer once showcased, a new browser might end up making its way into the market that plays exactly the same role. Of course whether or not this end up happening, only time can tell!
