Google Assistant is available on Play Store now
Last year with the launch of Android Nougat, Google Assistant was introduced by Google. At first, it was only available for Pixel devices but, later it was also offered to other Android Nougat devices as well.
Now the good news is that Google Assistant is available for smartphone users and they can easily download it from Play Store and anyone can download it.
The app is compatible just for those devices that are running under Android 6.0 Marshmallow and above. However, Lolipop users can’t avail this facility (sorry for them). To get the Google Assistant on your cell phone, you just need to have an up to date Google App.
As different technology firms now release their apps on Play Store in a bid to make the update process faster and securer. Seeing that, Google might also be interested in to make its way to the Play Store through Google Assistant. Now it would be easy for Google to update it independently devoid of updating the entire OS.
Here’s what the Google Assistant’s description says on the Play Store.
“The Google Assistant app provides another way to launch the Assistant that’s already available on your phone. It allows you to quickly access your Google Assistant with one tap. You can still access your Assistant by pressing and holding down your home button or by simply saying, ‘Ok Google.’”
Usage of Google Assistant:
You can perform different tasks through Google Assistant like you can ask it about
- the weather
- cheapest flights
- Hotels in a specific area.
You can ask it to act upon different functions on your phone like
- playing music
- playing a specific movie
- getting a list of all the movies of your favourite actor
- Sending a message to someone.
- To set reminders about anything.
