GOBEE wins the best Consumer Product Design Award 2018. Lums Student Faaiz Arbab has created first Smart Wheelchair Of Pakistan called GOBEE. It is a water repellent, anti-rusting wheel chair with alloy rim wheels. The sofa seat of this chair is given an anti-sweat technology.
Faaiz Arbab is student of MS electrical Engineering, Syed Babar Ali School of Science and Engineering at LUMS. National Design Awards (NDA) Pakistan has awarded him with the best Consumer Product Design Award (2018).
With his Voice Operated Smart Wheel Chair Arbab aims to assist people with disabilities. GOBEE is his initial step towards his goal of assisting disable people with technology.
GOBEE offers Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and a remote control which can go over the range of a 100 feet.
Distribution of the smart wheel chair has been started in the Pakistani market as the young student is also the founder of Ayub Yaqoob Engineering Company (AYECo) who has managed this distribution very well.
As Pakistan imports smart wheelchairs, the advent of a localised product like GOBEE could effectively open up market for itself.

GOBEE may also be exported in future after after its compliance with International Health Regulations (IHR) of World Health Organization (WHO).
Although Arbab was able to design an electric wheelchair many years ago and he could score victories in science contests while doing his graduation from UET Lahore, he gave up on his dream of smart wheel chair he as was not confident that the National Incubation Center (NIC) at LUMS would acknowledged his idea, so he pursued a full-time job.
However, later he quit his job to turn his dream into a reality and he took a fresh start since he had sold out all the hardware equipment.
Finally, NIC Lahore identified the potential in his product and selected him for 2018 incubation programme.
In future, GOBEE will be included with an IP Camera and Artificial Intelligence.
