Samsung had a foldable along with its flagship Galaxy Series launch announcement. This time it was the Galaxy Z FLIP. A 6.7 inch OLED display which folds into an extremely portable device. Priced at $1380, means that the prices are getting down and meeting the flagship prices at halfway. Here are the specs to get a fair idea of what the device has on offer:
Samsung has added a few software queues to make use of the fold. Folding it at an L, allows for split screen viewing and makes the experience a little laptop-like.
However, it seems like the foldable design that Samsung introduced here has more to do with portability than functionality. The previous fold devices meant that the device could also be used as a tablet for a better and wholesome viewing experience. But with the Z, all you get is an hunched up phone with an always on display alongside the camera which lets you take extremely difficult selfies. Regardless, the response was quite positive and it seems like we will be getting more of that in the future!
