This gadget will sniff meat to let you know it’s freshness before eating. Researchers at China Aerospace Science and Industry Corp (CASIC) (instead of some terrifying weapon) have developed a nifty little gadget that enables the individuals check the freshness of flesh.
What you will have to do with this device is to open the meat sniffer alongside an application on your mobile phone and place the device very close to the meat for about 10 seconds, according to Niu Ye, an engineer at the institute working on the product.
Though hearing about the device is somewhat confusing, users will use this device without getting confused as it sounds much similar to how people use Snapchat and smartphones in general.
The meat sniffer can be used with almost every kind of animal tissue. The device works by detecting and measuring the bacteriological activity.
By detecting and measuring the bacteriological activity device analyzes the levels of ammonia and volatile organic compounds in the muscle mound and later on it judges the meat’s freshness and displays this on the phone screen for the user.
The results of thus meat sniffer are not reliable 100%, rather they are accurate only 80 to 90 percent. However, Niu Ye says the device will be improved in future versions of the hardware and application.

CASIC proceeds with big plans for the meat sniffer and it is looking towards mass-production.
Meat sniffer is the first device of its kind developed by Chinese engineers, although other products to do the same thing – like My Food Sniffer – already exist elsewhere on the globe.
The nature of the China means that with the meat sniffer going live, it will be able to have access to a huge market with less stringent food safety laws than Europe or the US, and a large rural population.
