FinTech Research Center at ITU provides Summer Internship opportunity

First time in Pakistan, Summer Internship at ITUA pioneering FinTech Research Center at Information Technology University (ITU) Punjab, collaborating the Digital Financial Services Research Group (DFSRG) University of Washington (Seattle), is going to provide eight weeks summer internship opportunity from  1st July 2017 to 25th of August, 2017,

This opportunity for the enthusiastic individuals who intend to join the collaborative research with the University of Washington on Digital Financial Services in Pakistan.

This internship has been designed to provide Research Opportunities in Financial Education, Financial Inclusion of Women and FinTech Center Workshops. Work areas of this internship include Research Design, Qualitative and Quantitative Research and Data Transcription and Analysis.

Vice Chancellor Information Technology University (ITU) Dr. Umar Saif and Head DFSRG & Professor, Dr. Richard Anderson, Dept of Computer Science and Engineering, University of Washington (Seattle USA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) in January 2017 for the establishment of pioneering FinTech Research Center in Pakistan.

In the areas of cyber security,  authentication, financial education, fraud prevention, data analytics, and customer experience studies in digital financial services,  the FinTech Center and DFSRG will conduct collaborative research.

This center will also do research on the digitization of Government-to-Person (G2P) and Person-to-Government (P2G) payments in Pakistan.  The FinTech Center aims at working with the industry, government institutions, academia, and customers.

It is the pioneer collaboration in the World with Pakistan. The collaboration will be extended to the Africans and other Asian countries. Dr. Umar Saif hoped that it would be facilitating the smartphone transactions and establishing transparency in the system.

DFSRG, a research group at the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, University of Washington, is supported by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.  The aim of the research group is the development and deployment of technological solutions to specific challenges that impede the introduction and wide-scale deployment of digital financial services.
