If you’re an Instagram user it doesn’t mean you’re also a Facebook user, right? Yes!
As there are many people who use Instagram but not Facebook and vice versa. We all know that Facebook owns WhatsApp and Instagram. But does it qualify for Facebook to use WhatsApp or Instagram history of users for its own purpose, just because it owns social media messaging apps?
The fuss is once again on the rise but this time it’s not WhatsApp but “Instagram”. Several years ago, when Facebook announced that WhatsApp data would be shared between both platforms, this somehow made sense, but at the same time it also looked like a massive privacy concern as not everyone who uses WhatsApp or Instagram necessarily uses Facebook.
However, now it looks like Facebook could be trying it again, except this time the target is users of Instagram.
A recent report of TechCrunch states that Instagram is now testing a new privacy setting that would permit the app to share your location history with Facebook.
All it make sense that Facebook could use your location along with relevant content for ads targeting purpose.

As there are already lots of controversial theories about how Facebook is listening to your conversations. And due to this ability it has the strange ability to display the exact ads, surly this new agenda will not be helping their cause. But, given that this is a privacy setting, in theory it means that users will have the option to opt out of it, even though who would want to willing opt in is unclear.
Right now, we’re are not sure whether or not this new plan of Facebook (getting history location of Instagram users) will go live in the long run as it remains to be seen. However, in a statement made to TechCrunch, Facebook has provided a hint that they have prototyped such a feature.
“To confirm, we haven’t introduced updates to our location settings. As you know, we often work on ideas that may evolve over time or ultimately not be tested or released. Instagram does not currently store Location History; we’ll keep people updated with any changes to our location settings in the future.”
