So after the likes of Instagram and WhatsApp, who got a new dark mode update, Facebook for Android is now next in line to get the new theme feature as well. We have already gotten hands on teasers and the earliest teasers go back to August 2019 but with the report of some new screenshots which have now revealed to us the progress made on the application and also show us the upcoming features for the app.
The screenshots come from 9to5 Google which have shown us the practical implementation of the dark mode which is much similar to other apps with a dark gray theme instead of pure black. Facebook’s traditional blue themed accents are there as they have been maintained by the developers of Facebook. The new-look seems to be mostly finished but there is no official word on a release date yet.

In addition, Facebook is also in the works of adding a tracker to its Android app which will give user information regarding the local coronavirus cases. It will show data spanning multiple weeks and people shall also be able to see country-wide and global cases in that regard. Finally, Facebook’s own digital well-being feature known as “Time on Facebook” is also getting a new look and while the actual feature is the same, the new update will give it anew UI that utilizes a grid layout to show different sections. Much like before, the feature itself willgive people tools which allow them to track their time spent on the app although the name “Quiet Mode” appears to be new.
Finally, we should remind our users that the information we have got is mostly based on leaks and while they may make a lot of sense, these are still leaks and should not be believed fully. With that said, we hope that this feature does get available for users as it will provide something different in terms of design.
