Facebook becomes first “Not Google app” to reach 5 Billion downloads

One of the most popular if not the most popular social media application in modern generation would probably be Facebook, who over the years have established an amazing reputation and have gathered billions of users since Mark Zuckerberg launched the website. Now in the app generation, the app continues to dominate and well it is something truly amazing. When we talk about apps ‘5 billion downloads’ is a milestone which seems to be impossible to achieve,up till now only pre installed applications, which of course belong to Google since they power the OS that runs in all Android devices like YouTube, Play Store, Gmail, Maps, and etc, were able to pass this milestone.

Now with that in mind, Facebook just broke the record and became the first non-Google app achieve more than 5 billion installs and becomes the latest to join the 5 billion club in applications. Moreover,to confirm this, you can see that in the additional information provided about the application on Google Play Store,it is shown that the application has had 5 billion successful in syalls. 5 years ago, Facebook was the first non-Google application to pass the 1 billion mark and 5 years in to the future it has increased its installs by 500% which is an amazing milestone. However, this should not come as a surprise since it is one of the most popular applications being used by the modern generation and also the older generation.

The fact that Facebook passed the 5 billion milestone proves that it is more popular than many of Google’s own offerings like Hangouts, Google search, and Chrome.One of the main reasons for this is that the application comes pre-installed in almost all Huawei, Samsung, and LG smartphones and other brands also follow the same sequence. Furthermore , in the third quarter of the year 2018, Facebook got a 9 percent growth in its daily users, increasing the number of daily active users to 1.52 billion. This was thanks to growth in markets like Indonesia, the Philippines and India.
