After we were introduced to the Essential phone, the future was looking bright, however, this did not turn out to be the case for the company – as not only did the phone miss its scheduled release, but some of the executives that were present with the company also started to move along to other companies. However, now things are starting to turn right for the company, finally! A couple of weeks ago, the company said that its Essential phone was coming very soon, and it looks as if this time is finally here.
The Essential phone has been listed on Best Buy, in Sprint and unlocked versions, coming in two colors – Black Moon and Pure White. The shipping date is not yet there, and instead, Best Buy is displaying the grayed-out “coming soon” button. But considering the fact that Best Buy has put its entries live, it seems that the release is not that far away.
A huge bit of confusion came when the prices were released. When the news broke, it was stated that while the unlocked version would cost you $699.99, the Sprint edition would cost you $749.99. Now it wouldn’t take a genius to note that the carrier-locked version would be less would be more expensive, however, this was not actually the case, as the unlocked version was actually cheaper. Now, there is quite the possibility that this was just a mistake, especially when you consider the fact that Sprint listings no longer display any sort of price.
If you are wondering what specs are present on the phone as a whole, and why it may or may not be worth such a huge price tag – the Essential will come with the latest Qualcomm chipset, which is the Snapdragon 835. Other than this, the phone will come with 4GB of RAM, and 128GB of internal memory. Considering the design, the phone will feature a titanium and ceramic design, rounded off with a 5.71-inch QHD display, and will come with the Android Nougat out of the box.
