CYBERCRIME RATE HALVES AFTER PM INSTRUCTS FIA

The Federal Investigation Agency has taken special measures to further secure the internet in Pakistan and to prevent cybercrime cases. These measures have decreased the cybercrime rate by 50%! That is great accomplishment.

During the lockdown period, 488 complaints had been filed compared to 928 filed before the lockdown. The usage of internet was expected to rise quite much because of the lockdown and increased number of people using the internet at home, however, this would have meant that the number of cybercrime cases would be consequently increasing as well. But that has not been the case, rather, the FIA has been especially vigilant as to preventing such attacks and to keeping the integrity of the internet in Pakistan intact.

During the period of 1st March to 22nd April of this year, the cybercrime wing had caught 6 gangs of cybercriminals with 45 perpetrators being jailed. Apart from this, 39 cases in this period have been registered by the CCW.

PM Khan has also been active in instructing the FIA in making the financial transactions that happen online more secure, because with the country in lockdown, a large number of businesses are still involved in online transactions and therefore it is extremely important to have a stable financial secured internet rather than a one prone to attacks which was before the lockdown.
