Mobile World Congress is just upon us, but so is, unfortunately, coronavirus. The virus outbreak has led to many people in China losing their lives and quite a few affected. This virus has been identified in Korea too. This makes it increasingly vulnerable of spreading. China has been taking extensive measures to restrict the outbreak and have delayed flights and opened up check-up centres for tourists and everyone leaving the country. However, it seems like one of the biggest Mobile events is under threat because of that.

LG and ZTE have already pulled out of the show because of the threat of the virus. While others seemed to be hesitant too. However, the management has issued a statement which assures all the parties involved that they will take all the necessary measures to prevent the corona virus from becoming a problem during the event. However, this does not stop there. Numerous employees for the event are Chinese and not only that, they have been on the receiving end of racist abuse and xenophobia. This sort of behavior is unacceptable and could lead to a huge dilemma for the event to be held or not. Chinese companies would have a hard time settling in the event and more of them might back out of the event due to the current circumstances.
As for LG and ZTE, they have cancelled their respective events for the fear that their presence in the show might cause people there to become uncomfortable and their employees could be subjected to racist behavior. They have shown the courtesy to prevent their employees needlessly travelling exposing themselves to international travel, which has been advised by most health experts.
