Coolpad, a Chinese smartphone company has requested the Shenzhen court to ban the sale of Xiaomi Redmi Note 4X, Mi 6, Mi Max 2, Mi Note 3 and Mi 5X.
These 5 phones are requested to ban over patent dispute. The case is being heard at Guangdong Province Intermediate People’s Court.
However it is not cleared up to the time of writing that if the court accepts Coolpad’s ban request.
How Xiaomi phones market will be effected by this ban in other countries? Still no words.
In the first month of 2018, Coolpad Group subsidiary Yulong Computer Communications Technology (Shenzhen) Co Ltd sued Xiaomi for infringement of 3 patents related to system UI, notifications & app icon management.
Though Coolpad proved to be lazy about the matter, it has now requested court to ban these 5 Xiaomi phones.

Coolpad subsidiary Yulong, is of the view that the sale of these five Xiaomi phones in the market has caused it serious losses. That is why the company has demanded immediate order from the court to stop the sale of these phones.
It had also been reported earlier that Coolpad CEO Jiang Chao had claimed that the company has more than 10,000 patents that are being infringed by many smartphone brands. The CEO told that the company aims intends to sue more companies in future.
While talking about the company’s plan in this year, Coolpad CEO said, “We are also planning to introduce few more aggressive offline devices in next 2-3 months, in order to make an expansion in the offline market through our retails partners and multi-brand outlets. We are expecting that Coolpad will be able to make a strong presence in the offline market by the end of 2018.”
