China gifted its old embassy building located in diplomatic enclave to Pakistan. Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) will take control of the building after the required renovation and reconditioning. The necessary renovations and arrangements would be made before making it operational for MOFA’s Foreign Services Academy, which is currently located in F-5/2 Islamabad. China had shifted its embassy to the newly made complex.
Minister for Foreign Affairs Shah Mehmood Qureshi visited the new building and reviewed the arrangements along with Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Yao Jing. Foreign Secretary Sohail Mahmood accompanied the Minister during the visit. Also, Foreign Minister praised the Chinese government for the offer to relocate the Foreign Services Academy to the old embassy building. Shah Mehmood Qureshi also delivered the special thanks of PM Imran Khan for the good will initiative. The building is located at the heart of Islamabad in diplomatic enclave.

Furthermore, sources tell that the new building would be renovated and established for the Foreign Services Academy. China will bear the renovation and overhaul cost. The renovation work has already been started at the building, after which the operations of Foreign Services Academy will transfer to the newly renovated building.
Islamabad is getting a dense metropolitan area and with the passage of time government buildings are getting congested. The new departments and spread of government operations demand new spaces and buildings. MOFA’s operation would certainly improve with this development.
