Emerging evidence in relation to coronavirus is now suggesting that bald men are at a higher risk of developing severe Covd-19 cases. The link is apparently so strong that some researchers have claimed that baldness should actually be considered a risk factor called “Gabrin sign.”
We already known that men are more likely to die from the coronavirus than women, and data since the beginning of the outbreak in Wuhan China has provided the prime evidence of this. In a more recent report, it has even been suggested that working-age males are twice as likely to as females to die after contracting the virus.
While scientists have since been baffled so as to why men are more likely to be victims, it has been suggested that because of the presence of androgens – male sex hormones like testosterone – might play a major part in not only hair loss, but now may also be playing a major part in boosting the ability for the virus to attack cells.

While the situation does seem to be alarming, at the same time, it raises the possibility of treatment that will have the potential to suppress any such hormones – those of which may be used for as counter for baldness along with diseases such as prostate cancer. If such any such treatment does indeed work, then it could be used to slow the virus down and hence may give patients time to fight off.
As more and more studies are now being carried out to prove that bald men are indeed at more risk, in one study, it was actually shown that 79 percent of men suffering from the virus in three Madrid hospitals were actually bald.
Moreover, as we move towards a progressive solution primarily for bald men, a study from Veneto, Italy showed that of the 9,280 patients there, men with prostate cancer that were on androgen deprivation therapy were only a quarter as likely to contract Covd-19.
