Apple’s Co-Founder, Steve Wozniak is concerned about how internet companies are disobeying the users’ basics right and careless when it comes to protecting the private information. Hence, he is bidding farewell to the biggest social network Facebook that was recently caught up by a data breach scandal.
Wozniak said that users give all the personal details of their life to Facebook, and the social network yields a lot of advertising profits off this information. The revenues are based on the information given by the users; on the other hand, they do not get any of the profits back.
He’d prefer to pay for using the services of Facebook instead his personal information violated for advertising.
However, Wozniak has deactivated his Facebook account on Sunday after posting the following message,
“I am in the process of leaving Facebook. It’s brought me more negatives than positives. Apple has more secure ways to share things about yourself. I can still deal with old-school email and text messages.”
It is pertinent to mention before his cancers regarding privacy and taking the bold action of deactivating the Facebook account several corporate executives and technology leaders have criticized the platform for comprising data that was used for political targeting.

As we reported earlier, Elon Musk took down the Facebook pages of Tesla and SpaceX. In the same way, Mozilla also announced that they are halting advertisement on the social network until corrective actions have been taken by Facebook. Furthermore, Apple’s CEO, Tim Cook also criticizes Mark Zuckerberg about his leadership.
Shockingly, an update came last week where Facebook announced that over 87 million accounts were violated, a number far greater than the former estimation.
Wozniak was shocked when he observed the amount of the data collected by Facebook at the same changing and deleting some of his personal information before deactivating his account.
On the other side, he also praised Apple for respecting people’s privacy,
“Apple makes its money off of good products, not off of you. As they say, with Facebook, you are the product.”
You can see that breaking up with Facebook was not easy for the Apple Co-Founder, as he did not decide to delete his account permanently. He also did not fancy giving up his screen name, “stevewoz”.
