In the recent lootings that were carried out in Apple stores, iPhones stolen have been tracked and since have been disabled with the local authorities also being notified in accordance with messages being displayed on their screens.
Apple has also taken upon itself to temporarily close some of its stores that are located in US as unrest in the country continues to grow amid protests over the death of George Floyd.
While Apple has made it clear that it does not at all want to comment on “security matters,” it is unclear as to whether the company has passed on the location of these stolen devices to the authorities concerned.
This news for tracking comes after it was long rumored that the devices that are on show in Apple stores had software installed in amongst them so they could easily be tracked barring the situation where they were stolen – which of course is exactly the situation now.

Of course pictures now appearing on social media only further go on to confirm such claims, as one image posted on Twitter said : “Please rerun to Apple Walnut Street. This device has been disabled and is being tracked. Local authorities will be alerted.”
On the other hand though, the devices which are purchased legally don’t exactly have the same software on them as the aforementioned devices, however, Apple can actually remotely lock them if they are indeed subsequently stolen or lost.
The bad news for the tech giant comes after the lockdown situation was easing up in the US and the company started the process of reopening stores however, due to the fact that a series of raids in Washington DC, Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York and Philadelphia have been carried out mean that the firm is once again forced to shut down.
Ever since the situation has escalated though, the CEO of Apple in Tim Cook has told employees in a memo that the murder of George Floyd was “senseless” and has also promised to donate to human rights groups.
