Apple may abandon touch ID, its fingerprint recognition software, for a new facial recognition one. This declaration has been made by a KGI analyst.
Though there had been rumors of Apple drawn to find a place for the fingerprint sensor in the latest iPhone. There had been assumptions that the sensor might be positioned under the front screen or on the back of the device.
On the other hand, now it seems the Apple may discard it completely.
Kuo, the analyst who made the claim, foresees iPhone 8 to feature the maximum screen to body ratio of any iPhone or any phone on the marketplace to date. This is owed to the addition of the mark at the top of the screen and a virtual home button that is predictable to eradicate the physical one.
“The predictions are that the OLED model won’t hold up fingerprint credit, reasons being: the full-screen plan doesn’t go with offered capacitive fingerprint recognition, and the scan-through facility of the under-display fingerprint way out still has some technical challenges.”
The analyst also proclaimed that these final minute changes are not to reason any delays in the launch of the iPhone. The handset is still predictable to be announced in September.
‘As the latest OLED iPhone won’t carry under-display fingerprint recognition; we at this time do not wait for manufacture ramp-up will be postponed again (we previously anticipated the ramp-up would be postponed to delayed October or later).’
Kuo also explains that he expects for the facial recognition software the gadget will have a 3D sensor. This will improve to a great extent selfies taken through the phone also making Apple’s augmented reality (AR) software extra precise.
Apple will reveal not two but three phones this year. One is the iPhone 8 with the OLED screen and the remaining two without it. Kuo predicts.
‘For optimized promotional result, NetMag thinks Apple may disclose the three models at the same time in September, even if the launch date of the OLED version may follow that of LCD models, and supply tension may not recover before 1H18.’
The body of iPhone 8’s is likely to be built of stainless steel and glass whereas the other iPhone 7s devices will have and aluminum casing and glass backs. The two non OLED models, that is to say the iPhone 7 and the iPhone 7s, are to supports a display size of 4.7 inch and a 5.5 inch screen.
