Google’s latest software for Android was revealed a few months ago, and while many pondered over the name that would’ve been given to the software, Google decided that its latest software, Android 9 should be named Android 9 Pie. While the process of rumors began quite some while ago, it was not until the 6th of August that Google finally made Android 9 official.
Now that the latest software was confirmed, many users wondered and are still wondering when their phone will get the update of the latest version of software Google has to offer. Good news came about a few days ago for users of the Pixel and Essential phone as it was revealed that the users of these smartphones will get the update before the other companies. So now that this was confirmed, many wondered when their own phones would get the update, and amongst these were the users coming from Sony, Huawei and HTC. And finally now, the update plans for these companies are also revealed.
If you are the owner of a Sony Xperia XZ2, XZ2 Compact, Xperia XZ2 Premium, Xperia XZ1, Xperia XZ1 Compact, or the Xperia XZ Premium, then the good news for you is that you won’t have to wait too long before the update hits your phones. Being a user of either one of these phones, you should expect your Android 9 Pie update anytime around in September.

As far as the line goes for Huawei, the company stated that it has already been testing Google’s latest software. Going along with this, the company’s president for mobile phones has also revealed that amongst the many smartphones, the first four smartphones to get an update for Android 9 pie will be the Huawei Mate 10 Pro, the Huawei P20, the Huawei P20 pro, the Honor 10, and finally the Honor V10. Considering EMUI and the rather heavy approach that it brings along with it, there should be a lot of work which might be required, so it would actually be pretty understandable if it takes some time.
Last but not least, let’s talk about when the users of HTC will get the update for their respective phones. Unlike the other companies mentioned here, the story with HTC is a little different one. While we have an idea as to when the updates for the users of Huawei and Sony will come, it’s a different story for the users of HTC.The owners of HTC U12+, U11+, U11, and U11 life (Android One) can actually expect the Android 9 update to hit their phones soon. Now you must think, how soon? Well, in response to such a question, HTC has stated that the dates “will be announced in due course”. Make of it what you will, but it is good to know that at least it’s coming, and in a probable case, it won’t be too long before it’s here.
