A variety of HTC apps are removed from the Play Store

It has been no secret that HTC has been struggling over the past couple of years, as the manufacturer hasn’t released a single phone this year – however, it does say that it will soon do so. While we await the new phone from the company, there will be a large number of HTC apps that may no longer ship with the phone in mind.

The company has taken the decision to unpublisha large chunk of apps from the Play Store, with this meaning that such apps won’t actually be available on its phones. The activity of the Taiwanese company on App Brain goes on to show that the company has unpublished 14 of its apps from the Play Store.

These apps include : HTC Sense Home Launcher, HTC People, HTC Mail, HTC Speak, HTC Calendar, and the HTC Dot View. There is a large number amongst these apps that haven’t even received an update in recent months, so there has been an indication over the past few months that HTC is looking out to clean out the closet. On the other hand, apps including the likes of HTC Mail, HTC People, and HTC Calendar are apps that come Pre-installed with the company’s phones, as they offer an alternative pathway to Google’s very own apps.

While many are pondering as to why HTC took the decision it did, one plausible reason might be because HTC’s future phones might be Android One devices and because of that, the devices won’t run Sense UI – rendering the apps listed useless. This does make more sense than any other reason given, considering the fact that Android One phones usually ship with Google apps with a few manufacturer apps like the camera app.
