A Redmi phone with a 64MP sensor in the works?

A month back, Samsung launched a new 64MP ISO CELL Bright GW1 sensor. Soon after the launch of the sensor, there was speculation that the upcoming Galaxy A70s may come equipped with the 64MP sensor – the first to do so. Now though, the latest rumors suggest that not only will the Galaxy A series phone come with the sensor, but a phone from Redmi too will come with the sensor.

The rumors say that Samsung is gearing up for the international premiere of the 64MP camera sensor via a mysterious Galaxy A series phone, while the Redmi phone that will come with the sensor will be featuring in China. For now, we’re not quite sure which of the phones will be the world’s first in promoting a 64MP camera sensor.

Using Samsung’s very own Tetracell technology, the 64MP ISOCELL Bright GW1 sensor is capable of capturing 16MP images in low-light scenarios. The sensor also goes on support up to 100db real-time HDR. The phones that will feature with it will have the capabilities to allow users to capture 1080p slow-motion videos along with Super PD PDAF technology. It is expected that the second half of 2019 will see the mass production of the 64MP camera sensors. And so it is expected that smartphones with 64MP cameras will be released later in the year.

The speculation says that the Galaxy A70s will come later in the year. Considering the fact that it will be arriving as an upgraded version of the Galaxy A70, it is said that the A70s might arrive with internals being similar to the A70, with the difference coming in the form of the 64MP snapper. Samsung is also yet to launch the Galaxy A90 smartphone and the rumors say that it may arrive with the new ISOCELL GW1 camera sensor.

Coming back to Redmi though – there still isn’t any information present over what phone from the company will feature with the 64MP snapper in the future. Most of the major Redmi smartphones have already been released by the company in the first half of 2019 and so it will be interesting to see exactly what Redmi does when it releases  a phone coming with a 64MP snapper
