Mobile industry is rapidly growing in Pakistan and after observing the trend 5 companies including Haier, G5, Jio Phone, Mobo Mobiles, and Foxconn are going to take government’s permission to start and set up mobile phone assembly lines.
According to report by Express Tribune “Pakistan is finally going to start local manufacturing of mobile phones as five companies are looking to set up their mobile phone assembly lines in the country.”
These five companies are seeking government’s permission to set up their mobile phone assembly lines in the country.
We are hopeful as local manufacturing of the mobile phones will not only benefit the handset industry but it will also improve the economy by catching the attention of foreign direct investment (FDI).
If the government agree upon the point and is willing to give permission to these companies then it will certainly promote the cell phone industry in Pakistan.
In the past, Pakistan Telecommunications Authority (PTA) also issued guidelines and the steps that are essential to get the Non-Objection certificate (NOC) for the manufacturing of local mobile phone assemblies.
A large amount of money goes in importing mobile phone devices in the country. And obviously heavy tax duties associated with the handsets is also a major factor which causes the trouble to this industry.
PTA stated that all devices manufactured in the country should hold a clear marking or stamp that should say “Assembled in Pakistan.”
Let see what sort of inducements and benefits the authorities will put forward to the companies who are showing concerned in setting up mobile phone assemblies just like the Auto Development Policy 2016 which gets an investment in the auto industry a striking venture.
The first step is to grant permission to these companies and after granting the NOC, the telecom authority will examine the mobile phone assemblies to check the health, safety, and technical standards.
The initiative by companies will reduce the prices of smartphones in the country which will make owning it a lot more affordable. Local manufacturing of smartphones will give a great boost to mobile phone industry.
