The 12GB RAM modules on smartphones first made their appearance back in 2018, and while they weren’t too common, this year, Samsung intends to expand the production for such modules, and make them more common than they have ever been. The Korean giant has now indeed started the mass production of 12GB LPDDR4X DRAM modules thought to be the flagship phones by the Korean giant, and hence, integrated with the most advanced hardware and technologies. The new modules are actually meant to be used on devices which go on to support the most revolutionary technologies in mobile sector, with these ranging from the likes of camera modules (with those involving several sensors), to the likes of 5G connectivity, as well as artificial intelligence and more.
Another major advantage of the new 12GB LPDDR4X RAM modules is the case for the lower power consumption – meaning they are set to be a whole lot more power efficient. There has also been a reduction in the thickness of the modules by Samsung, as these new one’s are just 1.1mm thin, and this will consequently allow the saving of space, and hence making the case for bigger batteries and a better design for flagship phones too. The new modules will also allow for better performances in multi-tasking, along with a faster search response.

The 12GB LPDDR4X RAM modules were projected with a combination of six 16-gigabit LPDDR4X chips into a single unit. Besides the start of mass production of the new modules, Samsung will also increase the supply of these modules along with the 8GB LPDDR4X DRAM modules by around 300 percent in the second half of this year, as the Korean manufacturer expects a strong demand for the particular chips.
